Rederick releases MASSIVE tune, “Reggae Wub”, via Subdermal Records causing a universal outbreak of nasty bass-face.

Fresh off his most recent release on More Creativity, Rederick is back with another absolute spanker to show us that the bass hustle never sleeps. The Florida native comes correct on his aptly named chune, “Reggae Wub”, courtesy of the newly launched Subdermal Records, which opens with a smooth guitar riff that establishes an intoxicatingly groovy rhythm right off the bat. The intro alone seems to urge the listener to move to Jamaica and vibe under a banana tree with a fat doobie, and then the boundary-pushing verse hits. The Wubaholic teases at the gnarly sound design to come, weaving an intricate auditory tapestry filled with colorful horns and a luscious low end. As we move to the build-up, the groove is undeniable, and tension is carefully crafted before the drop steals the show. The first drop is chalked full of uniquely Rederick sounds that grabs the listener with distorted deliciousness. These ribbit growls and hefty wubs blend nicely spliced between reggae riff fills and all around wookery. If the first drop steals the show, then the second drop seizes the venue because this boy is HEFTY. Rederick flawlessly introduces a high-end, squeaky rhythm on top of his distorted wubs, successfully layering in the sickest groove of the decade. We got a chance to ask Rederick a couple questions and here’s what he had to say:

  1. “What are you most looking forward to getting back to in a post-pandemic world?”

    1. “Definitely looking forward to both seeing and playing shows again. Shows are a large source of creativity for me and the lack thereof has been hard to deal with for such a long time. Can’t believe my first show since before Covid I’ll be playing! All of us have been cabined the past year and a half and I just can’t wait to see people dancing in a live setting again.”

  2. “What were some of your inspirations for this song?”

    1. “For Reggae Wub, like a lot of my tunes, I was inspired by sounds from the ocean, which you’ll hear throughout the track. I also wanted to make a Reggae style bass track and was able to arrange the intro into a fun reggae vibe. Of course it’s all downhill from there, but the guitar throughout the track acts as a reminder that there’s ‘reggae’ to the ‘wub.’
