The Bass Scene’s Favorite Boy Band, Xotix, Releases Brand new single, “Revolution” off their “Fresh” EP

Xotix, the bass scene’s favorite boy band, released 2 singles this week off of their highly anticipated FRESH EP. The FRESH EP, dropping in its entirety on May 7th, will feature 5 brand new tunes from the California natives, and we at Wubaholics were lucky enough to get a sneak peek at their newest single. “Revolution” opens with an insane, spiraling FX that send the listener reeling over an atmospheric reese bass. Successfully captivating the audience’s attention, the group introduces a shlapping 808 pattern that hints at the Xotix shenanigans yet to come. And when the drop hits, it HITS. Brutal sound design finds its flow as glitchy patterns and thick wubs waltz with each other in the fills.  The hefty mid-range bass complimented by an atmospheric, rhythmic high-end expands on themes we’ve seen throughout Xotix’s discography; themes we’ve come to love. But, as the EP title implies, there is certainly some fresh and new ideas at play here. After obliterating speakers with the first drop, the trio bring in an electric guitar lead during the breakdown, and this what truly makes the song unforgettable. The wailing guitar riff floats gently over the build before coming to rest beautifully on top of a hefty second drop. The heavily distorted melody of the guitar finds itself at home atop some gnarly basses and an ever-evolving trap drumline. Xotix comes correct on this new song, “Revolution”, and their new EP is sure to be no different. Be sure to check out the FRESH EP when it drops on May 7th!
