Maroc Goes Wild With His “Headknock” EP

It might be a little early for Christmas presents, but 25 year old Jamie Flynn, better known as ‘Maroc’ delivered an absolute slapper with his new track “Alien” off his December EP titled “Headknock.” And after all, aren’t wubs on all of our wish lists?

Jamie Flynn grew up in Coram, a town in Long Island, New York. He seemed to be on a traditional path in life to follow in his dad’s footsteps and join the pipe covering union in New York City. That is, until a couple of his friends showed him artists such as Bassnectar, Doctor P and Flux Pavilion back in high school. After a couple years of listening to these legends and attending several live shows, Jamie knew exactly what he wanted to do in life.

Once he knew he wanted to create music for a living, he needed to come up with a name for this musical project. Remember Maroc’s hometown from earlier? Well, the town of Coram is so special to the 25 year old that he decided to pay homage to the city by spelling it backwards to create his stage name.

“Coram, NY was a great place to grow up. I've made a lot of lifelong friends here that have supported me and my project since day one.”

In regards to how he came up with the sound design for this track, Jamie told us

“I was messing around with a bass that I really enjoy and it sounded like it was coming from an alien spaceship so that's where i decided that the track name should be in fact “Alien’.” So when you feel like you’re being abducted into an alien spaceship halfway through the song, don’t worry, It’s intentional.
