Josh Teed Makes Us Feel Like We Can Do “Whatever We Please” With His New Deviation EP
Josh Teed is a simple man. The 23-year-old violinist and bass producer from New Hampshire brings a unique approach to the scene and his music, incorporating beautiful live instrumentals over his DJ sets and in his productions. He doesn’t have a flashy alias or gimmicky name. Why you may ask? Because he wants his fans to know that this is who he is, telling us “I just wanted people to see me as me, not a separate alias or anything. My music is a representation of my feelings and experiences, so I felt like it made sense to keep it this way.”
Well, we see you Josh, and we have the absolute pleasure of premiering “Whatever We Please” featuring Vincesmoke, the third track off Josh’s Deviation EP on Obskure, for the Wubaholics Blog. Anyone who listens to this EP will very quickly notice that Josh’s music seamlessly blends beautiful melodies with thick wubby bass that is bound to turn heads. “Whatever We Please” starts out with otherworldly ambiance and morphs into a catchy bassline followed by the killer flow of vocalist Vincesmoke. The buildup signals a subtle energetic shift from the smooth melody into two drops that are more beast than beauty. This EP is one for the books, and we highly recommend you do a deep dive into Josh’s music if this is your first glimpse into the musical mind that is Josh Teed.
We were lucky to get to know Josh on a more personal level as well and speak with him about more than just music. Born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida, Josh moved to New Hampshire with his family in 2007 and has been there ever since. He has been enjoyed reconnecting with nature during the Pandemic, taking the initiative to spend more time outdoors, be with friends, and work on his craft. Josh tells us that quarantine has been tough, but all the free time he has had has “[d]efinitely [been] helpful! I've been making the best music of my life over the last few months because I've had the time to really explore some new techniques and experiment with things.” Only two years into producing, Josh’s growth has been remarkable, drawing stylistic comparisons to some of his biggest inspirations such as Clozee, Flume, Charlesthefirst, RL Grime and Hans Zimmer. We are proud to be a part of this EP, and urge you to go listen to Josh Teed’s Deviation EP, out now from our good friends at Obskure and available on all streaming platforms.
