donny & RUBiX team up for “anotha one”

Anotha Wednesday means that Wubaholics is coming through with anotha brand new song. This week our ears have the pleasure of listening to our good friends donny & RUBiX bring the heat with their new track “anotha one”, out now exclusively on Wubaholics. RUBiX is making his Wubaholics debut, and donny is coming fresh off of a Wubaholics Anonymous guest mix appearance. This is donny’s first official release on Wubaholics since the announcement of his signing to Wubaholics Management Group last month, and what a way to start it off. This track embodies the best of both donny and RUBiX's styles and is guaranteed to make you move!

This past week we had the privilege of talking with donny and RUBiX about their backgrounds, who/what inspires them, as well as a little bit of insight as to what went into creating such a banger.

Donny Lerille Jr, a/k/a donny, is a 23 year old based out of New Orleans, Louisiana. Being from NOLA, he is heavily inspired by other NOLA based artists such as bawldy, Boogie T, and sfam. In regards to how he has stayed sane throughout the pandemic, donny tells us it's just the basics “Smoking a lot of weed and making music. I don’t really like to do much besides that.” Donny got his start in music when his friend (and insanely talented producer,) bawldy started playing local shows in the NOLA area. “I tagged along with him to most of his shows and eventually decided to try this music thing out myself. I don’t really have an end goal, I just want to have fun making music and help as many people as I can through my music.”

Chase Raines, a/k/a RUBiX, is a 26 year old from Oklahoma. While he was born in Oklahoma City, the producer now resides in Tulsa, Oklahoma. During the craziness of these unprecedented times, Raines tells us that he likes to unwind by taking a walk down the river with his girlfriend and their dog. In regards to the whole nationwide quarantine, he thinks it has actually been pretty helpful for him personally with his music. “Quarantine has definitely been helpful. This is the first time in history that bass artists as a whole couldn’t go and perform. So many of them made twitch accounts and regularly will host streams giving out industry secrets and amazing ideas of their own. It definitely helped my music production for sure being able to expand my mind inside the world of Ableton.” With how impressive RUBiX’s sound design is, it is hard to believe that he’s only been producing for just over 1 year.

When it came to how the boys teamed up for this crazy collab, it turns out that they actually met on twitter and wound up wanting to work on a collab together. I guess it really does go down in the DMs. RUBiX tells us “Anotha One started out as a WIP I sent to Donny. I remember Donny spending 1 night on it and I spent one night on it. So pretty quick actually, 2 days and we had most of it written.” While it might have been their first collab, it seems like the two of them will manage to stay close after working on the track together, donny tells us that “I got Chase to send it over for a collab. Now he’s one of my homies. that’s one of my favorite things about music.” You can listen to “anotha one” by donny and RUBiX right now exclusively on Wubaholics and available on all platforms.
